ANZAC Task

This week we learnt alot about ANZAC day because it has been 100 years since the first ANZAC's landend on ANZAC cove. In the task we had to answer all the questions.

Gallipoli is on the edges of Turkey separating the Aegean Sea and the Dardanelles

Task 8: Write a newspaper article that might have been around in the World War I stating what would have been happening. Try to include as much detail as possible so that the reader gets a really good idea about what life would have been like living in the war.

1919 24 June

News Reporter Interviews New Zealand Soldier

On the 24th of June 1919 news reporter John Harvey Interviewed a young New Zealand soldier Albert Asher that had just returned from the war in Gallipoli. Albert says that it was one of the most frightening time of his life." I was scared even getting on to the boat," He tells us. " I thought it would be awesome otherwise I would have thought a bit more about it" He says. Asher says "Living in the trenches is worse than you can possibly imagine. When you listen all you hear are gunshots, screams and footsteps. When you smell you sent the dead bodies blood and mud. When you peek up from your trench you can only see men, guns, explosions, mud, barb wires, blood, dead bodies and all kinds of things.”

Ingredients

• 1 cup of Rolled Oats

• 1 cup of Sugar

• 1 cup of Plain Flour

• 3/4 cup of coconut

• 1/2 cup of butter

• 2 tbsp of golden syrup

• 1 tbsp of boiling water

• 1 tsp of baking soda

Method

• Mix oats, flour, sugar and coconut together in a large mixing bowl

• Melt golden syrup and butter in the microwave for about 20 secs in a separate bowl

• Mix the baking soda and the boiling water then add to the syrup and butter mixture

• Then add to the dry mixture and mix well

• Place 1 tbsp balls of mixture on greased tray

• Bake in oven 160'c for 20 minutes.
